Our Success Story
The innovation ecosystem in Tanzania has seen significant growth over the past decade. From just a handful of innovation hubs in 2014, the country now boasts over 60 hubs across various regions.
Despite this progress, several gaps persist, particularly in funding, coordination among hubs, capacity and sustainability of the hubs, training for new hub managers, and unified advocacy for favorable policies. These challenges hinder the ecosystem's potential and leave entrepreneurs without clear guidance on where to seek support.
Recognizing these challenges, the Tanzania Hubs Network (THN) was conceived during a convening of over 30 stakeholders in Dar es Salaam, organized by the Human Development Innovation Fund (HDIF) in November 2020.
The interim leadership for THN was elected during this event. In November 2021, the THN Charter was ratified by 20 innovation hubs during the Tanzania Tech Hub Capacity Building Workshop, organized by the International Trade Center as part of the FastTrackTech Africa project.
